Mini Masterpieces Art Swap

Sunday, October 08, 2023
Vernon
Foyer
The Okanagan Regional Library will be home to Vernon's Free Little Art Gallery (FLAG) for 1 week from Oct 3rd to Oct 8th!

Imagine a magical little space in the heart of the library, where mini artworks rule the day. It's a place where creativity knows no bounds, and where you can share your artistic genius with the world – one tiny canvas or sculpture at a time!

The FLAG will be brimming with tiny treasures contributed by fellow art enthusiasts. From intricate doodles to magnificent micro-paintings, you'll be amazed at the diverse collection on display. And here's the best part: You can swap your very own mini-masterpieces with any artwork that catches your eye.

The FLAG is open whenever the library is, so you can drop by any time you're feeling artsy. See you at the gallery, where mini art meets massive imagination!

Mommy Brain: an Evening with Author and Scientist Dr. Jodi Pawluski

7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Vernon
Community Room
Do you sometimes have the feeling that your brain is going to mush and that your baby is literally sucking the life out of your neurons? Don’t worry, you’re not losing your mind! In fact, your brain is getting a complete makeover and focusing on new areas of learning which are essential for parenting.

In their book, Mommy Brain: Discover the Amazing Power of the Maternal Brain, Dr Jodi Pawluski questions our relationship with motherhood and explores, in an unprecedented way, the fantastic universe of the maternal, and parental, brain. Drawing on numerous scientific studies, including her own neuroscience research and experience, she provides insight into how your brain really changes with motherhood, and why.

Dr Jodi Pawluski is a internationally recognized Canadian neuroscientist who specializes in the neuroscience of motherhood and perinatal mental illness. Her research is affiliated with the University of Rennes, France. As a scientist and therapist, she campaigns for improving our understanding of the parental brain, recognition of the importance of perinatal mental health, and better care for parents. She is a mother of 2 and knows, firsthand, what it is to be a parent.
