Make it: Designing for 3D Printing

2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Event Details

Why buy something when you can make it instead?
Learn how to make 3D Printable designs using the free CAD software Fusion 360. This beginner series will show you how to make precision parts for repairs or inventions. For Teens and Adults!

You'll need a computer capable of running Fusion 360 for this program - check the minimum specifications here: Specifications

What you won't need is a 3D printer - there are printers available at several library branches across the Okanagan Regional Library system, so you'll be able to use what you learn here by making a free makerspace appointment! Makerspaces

Some background in math will be helpful for understanding the concepts in week 3 - specifically, geometry and equations are useful concepts to know about - not at an expert level or anything, basic familiarity is fine. And you will still be able to use the concepts without that knowledge, it's just that you might have less sense of when to apply them.

Week 1: Getting a free personal license for Fusion 360, installation, and basic navigation
Week 2: Sketch-based design and parametric editing, designing for printability (shapes)
Week 3: Constraints and Dimensions for precision design, designing for printability (tolerances)

Event Type(s): S.T.E.A.M., Workshop, Classes
