Online Kelowna Poetry Contest
Celebrate Poetry Month with the Online Kelowna Poetry Contest for Adults! Are you feeling creative? Write a poem and submit your entry between April 1 to May 31st. Please email your poem to klreference@orl.bc.ca along with your name and phone number or drop hard copies submissions to your branch and we will make sure your poem will be send to Kelowna Downtown Library.
Submission Guidelines:
- There
is no set theme. Let your imagination run wild!
- Poetry
can be written in any poetic style and on any subject but must be in English.
- Only
one poem per person. Multiple entries will not be accepted.
- The
poem must be an original work by the person entering the contest.
Plagiarism is a serious offense!
- The
deadline for submissions is Wednesday , May 31st 16 at 8:00
p.m.
- Poems
containing language that is vulgar, offensive, or inappropriate will not
be accepted.
- Prizes:

Online: Be Kind - Inclusion Matters (Grades 6-12)
By treating kindness, compassion and
empathy as intentional acts, your students create positive environments that
are inclusive, respectful and free from bullying. Youth will learn how all acts of kindness, no matter how big or small, make our
schools, homes, and communities a much better place to live. “Be Kind”
presentations focus on anti-bullying, respect, empathy and kind actions.
Paulo Guerrero is an adventurer living in North Vancouver. He
especially enjoys exploring up in the mountains, paddling in the ocean and even
bungee jumping! Paulo sustained a spinal cord injury, following a motorcycle
accident in 2018. Being paralyzed from the chest down hasn’t changed Paulo’s
optimistic outlook on life. He
will share the importance of attitude, perseverance and how they can be
difference makers in creating a more inclusive and accessible world.
