Linking Literacy program offers early learners the opportunity to learn pre
reading skills as well as physical literacy. Through the utilization of stories and
sports resources, children will be learning the concepts of direction, colour, pre reading, taking turns,
patience, sports readiness, and socialization, as well as better communication
skills through participation in our innovative Linking Literacy program. We begin the program at 9:00 in the library with stories and then move into a "gym" time.
This program is made possible as it is a partnership with the Village of Lumby and Regional District as well as a grant from Canada Post Community Foundation.
Parents will learn fun ways to interact with their child during this two hour oral early literacy program. Snack time and play time are included in each session. In partnership with The Clubhouse Childcare Centre, and funding by the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development.
For Newborns - 4 years of age.
All of these story time programs are FREE! For more information and to register, please contact Sheree at 250-762-4476.
Geared to the older pre-schooler, this storytime uses more stories than toddlertime but with lots of participation and movement mixed in too! Rhymes, chants, songs, fingerplays, and lots of stories with puppets and other visual aids to keep kids interested.
Join a deaf storyteller and a children's librarian for stories, songs, and rhymes presented in both American Sign Language and English. This program is welcome to attendees of all abilities. An interpreter will be present.
The last half of the program is dedicated to socializing; the library will supply a small snack and craft. Financial assistance provided by the Central Okanagan Foundation.
Every third Saturday of the month; 10:30-12 noon in the Meeting Room
